Desertores

Nacho Lamar approached us with a clear ambition: to position himself as one of the most transgressive designers in Spain. We developed a complete visual concept — from the idea to the location — rooted in the idea of the art "thieves" who kept and saved spanish art heritage during Spanish Civil War.

Inspired by Spain in the 1930s and 1940s, during years marked by war and uncertainty, this proposal explores a landscape where history, fragility, and resilience coexisted. Amid the Spanish Civil War, a group of intellectuals, conservators, and art lovers carried out a quiet act of courage: risking their lives to protect Spain’s artistic heritage.

From masterpieces by Velázquez to works by Goya, they relocated some of the nation’s most valuable artworks to safer locations, driven by a vital mission—to ensure that art would survive.

Desertores is born from this tension between vulnerability and bravery, memory and resistance. It is a collection that looks to the past to honor those who understood that preserving beauty was also a way of fighting.
